Books We Love – Our Favorite Summer Reads

Can y’all believe the school year is about to begin again? As we shift gears from Spring towards Summer, our bookish tribe wanted to share our favorite recent reads. Our list, much like our authors, is a fun mix & match of genres, some reviewed but all well-loved. Not all of us have had time to read as much as we would like. Still, an important part of writing is reading. As they say, you are who you hang out with, you write like you read. The books we read influence us in a number of ways. Let’s talk books! What are you reading?

S.F. Benson read:

caged-2-0-haunted

Jennifer Silverwood is re-reading:

Jenn’s Thoughts: I’ve still been on my epic quest to read ALL the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. These books are so massive, but one of my fav epic fantasy series. Plus, Jordan does amazing with bringing his readers back into the scope of the world with each sequel, something I’m trying to replicate with my own writing. Just finished the prequel New Spring and a hundred pages into Book 4: The Shadow Rising.

Kate Avery Ellison read:

Melissa Wright is reading:

23127048._sy475_

Mel’s Thoughts: I am halfway through the Air Awakens series by Elise Kova. It’s like candy and I can’t stop.

K.D. Jones has been reading:

510kjgmxpgl._sx331_bo1204203200_

Krystle’s Thoughts: Right now I’m reading Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. It’s actually a YA sci-fi story with a feisty female protagonist. I’m loving her personality.

Melissa McShane is reading:

Sword Named Truth.indd

Melissa’s Thoughts: I don’t usually go in for epic fantasy, but I’ve liked some of the other books set in this world. But it’s going slowly because I’m listening to the audiobook and that feels like it takes forever.
